There are currently 3 active VSLS Lab Submission streams you may need access to:
- Scrapie (includes slaughter, on-farm and genotyping)
- BSE
- WSAI
Accounts are managed in two places:
User Management System (UMS)
An account is created in UMS to manage user's authorizations to modules. UMS is used to request and approve access. However approval of a UMS request is outside of VSLS and changes won't occur (such as a new account or role) until the VSLS system's security tables are manually updated by the APHIS helpdesk.
Veterinary Services Laboratory Submissions (VSLS)
The APHIS Help desk will contact you when changes are complete. In the case of a new account request they will provide you with a one time password to login and sync your VSLS account to eAuth. After the initial login, you will login with eAuth. Please note the one-time password expires after 24 hours so if you are not able to login in 24 hours, simply reply to the helpdesk and request a reset.
Once you have successfully gained access to VSLS, we recommend you login once a month, even if you have no work to address. This will prevent your account from being automatically disable. there is a 60 day timeout on VSLS accounts: if an account is not used for 60 days or more the password expires. Should this happen, you can request a reset from APHIS Help.
I just need an account
Both VSLS and UMS require a level 2 eAuth account. Instructions for obtaining the account may be downloaded from this website. We will need you to provide your eAuth username to NAHLN-IT and we can then establish the UMS account. You will be able to then request roles through UMS yourself. However when establishing new accounts, once we have your eAuth username we will create the UMS account and request the initial account as the UMS menu is somewhat difficult to navigate.
